The 20-Minute Weekly Reset

One short AI session that empties your head, sorts your week, and drafts the annoying things before Monday does its thing.

You know that low hum of everything-I-haven't-done that follows you around on Sunday? This is the routine that turns it off.

It's four steps, same order every week, about 20 minutes total. Do it Sunday evening or first thing Monday, whichever version of you is more honest. After three weeks it stops feeling like a technique and starts feeling like brushing your teeth.

Step 1: Dump everything (5 minutes)

Open your AI of choice and empty your head. Everything: work tasks, the email you owe someone, the thing you told your kid you'd handle, the invoice you keep forgetting. No order, no editing. Use the microphone button and ramble if that's easier.

The brain-dump opener
"I'm going to brain-dump everything on my plate for the week. Don't respond until I say done. Just take it all in. Ready?"

Step 2: Let it sort (3 minutes)

When you've run out of steam, hand over the sorting:

The sorter
"Done. Now organize all of that into: (1) must happen this week, (2) should happen but survivable if not, (3) can wait, and (4) things I should honestly drop or hand off. Put a time estimate on each must-do. Be realistic, not optimistic."

Look at the "drop or hand off" pile before anything else. There's usually one thing in there you've been carrying for weeks that nobody actually needs from you. Deleting it feels incredible.

Step 3: Pick your three (2 minutes)

Ask one more question:

The decider
"If I only get 3 things done this week, which 3 move my business forward the most, and why those? Then lay out my week: what happens which day, given that [your real constraints: school pickup, client days, whatever]."

You're allowed to overrule it. It doesn't know that Tuesday-you is useless after 2pm. Tell it, and it'll replan around the truth. The plan gets better every week as it learns your actual life.

Step 4: Draft the dreaded things (10 minutes)

Here's where the reset beats every paper planner you've abandoned: at least one thing on your list is a thing you're avoiding because it involves writing. The awkward follow-up, the price increase email, the "checking in on that invoice" nudge.

The dread-remover
"Item [X] on my list is an email I've been avoiding. Here's the situation: [two sentences]. Draft it warm but direct, and give me two versions: one soft, one firmer."

Draft them all now while the context is loaded. Even if you send them Wednesday, the hard part (starting) is already done, and Wednesday-you just has to hit send.

Why this works

None of these steps is fancy. The magic is that it's one session instead of forty scattered moments of remembering things in the shower. Your head stops being the storage system, which is good, because heads are terrible storage systems and pretty great at everything else.

Bonus points: keep the whole thing in one ongoing chat week after week. Then you can ask "what did I say mattered most last week, and did I do it?" That question alone is worth the 20 minutes. If you've built your Business Brain File, paste it in the first week and the plans get sharper still.
